What an interesting end to your journey. Stay where you are. In itself it is a lesson worth knowing. We search but often the answer is right where we are already. It is a great achievement to have walked the Camino. I dream of it but have never actually got there. You did it!! On your own terms in your iwn way. Now rest and enjoy your break - you must have lots to write about!! And thank you for sharing 💗

When I was thinking about what to do next, I found myself just wanting to be in one place for awhile. I think that is the result of both travelling full-time for three years (2017-2019), and now having walked walking the Camino, and being in a different bed every night for two months. I just wanted to stop for a bit. I’ve been writing copious notes while I’ve been going but now I’ve stopped walking, my brain is still spinning out of control.

550 km is nothing to sneeze at! Though it's not the ending you expected, you have still done something incredible.

And kudos to you for taking some time to yourself. It's hard to adjust to life post-Camino sometimes (I speak from experience), so a "transition period" like yours is indeed a great idea.

I do highly recommend Muxia if you can get out there. Walk out on the rocks in front of Our Lady of the Boat. It's a different experience from Finisterre and well worth it. Of course, just my two cents. Enjoy your time to reflect and write :)

I remember when I finished my first Camino) I headed to London and found myself on sensory overload. I was completely overwhelmed by the people and the noise, so I’ve learned from that experience and hence spending some time at the beach to adjust to reality again.

I do feel quite accomplished at the 550 km. It wasn’t quite the 800. I had planned on but I feel like I I accomplished what I came to do.

I’ve stayed at my Muxia before. That was my last Camino, with my husband. This was my first time in Finisterre and while I’m not in the village itself, I’m just on the outskirts and love it. I can watch the pilgrims walk in but still be on the periphery.

Big congratulations on your huge achievement Tara. It was always meant to be a personal journey. Not a competition. You’ve done three Caminos now. You are quite likely in a very small circle of fellow triple Camino finishers. I bet it was amazing and unique. Like you 🥰

Oh, the Camino is never a competition for me. As I’ve mentioned before, the turtle is my spirit animal and I embrace it wholeheartedly. I’m really not concerned that I didn’t walk the entire way. I really did feel like I had accomplished the Camino I came to do.

You’d be quite surprised how many people have done three or more Caminos. I think that group is quite large.

It was definitely a different experience so my previous two camino’s and, as always, it’s the people that I will remember not necessarily the places. So it’s a good thing I took a lot of notes and a lot of photos. 🤣😊

Loved reading your post Tara and I’m glad you decided to return to that beautiful spot on the beachfront. What a magnificent setting for relaxing and writing. Also the pool is an added bonus. We had our exercise class yesterday and we’re having a cold snap here with winter on its way so it was wonderful as always to be in the heated pool with great friends and continued laughter. We mention you every week and we’re thinking it’s getting closer to your return. Looking forward to seeing you again soon, you’ve been missed. Take care and enjoy those wonderful relaxing days you have remaining on your journey. By the way, you’re looking fabulous and fit! Xx

Oh, that’s so nice. I’ve missed you all as well. There is definitely inspiration here at the beach for the book - not that the setting will be in the book, just that it’s giving me plenty of time to think about the book.

As for looking fabulous and fit … well I thank you for that. I do feel fitter than I did than when I left. As for fabulous, I’m still the dag I was always was and, after seeing the Spanish women, feeling a little more so. But that’s just me.

One thing I’ve learned is that pools in Australia are not the same as heated pools in Spain. The pool is here are barely lukewarm. But I’m loving the beach and I’m loving the vibe.
